Atropos and the Noodles of Death

Here is an interesting Chinese superstition: that the length of noodles are representative of one’s life span.  Noodles are therefore made to be as long as possible.  Sometimes a bowl of noodles may be made of just one long strand.  To cut one’s noodle, especially on New Year or your birthday, is considered very unlucky.
